Post-Thanksgiving Musings

I hope that your Thanksgiving gathering was a blessed one-full of laughter and new memories!

You know, we never know what the coming days may bring, or who will gather around our table again next year...

Gather as many memories and smiles as you can--and treasure them!

We had a wonderful day--a new blessing to add to my Thankfulness list!

Happy Thanksgiving-From our house to yours!

Psalm 100
1Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Thanksgiving Thoughts

free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com

Psalm 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

I love this time of year...time for reflecting on my many blessings! However, one thing that often gets overlooked in this world that we live in...is that although lots of people reflect on their blessings and thankfulness...they often forget WHO they should be thankful TO!

Psalm 95:2Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

And so, I dedicate my post today to the Lord from Whom all blessings flow! I want to bless His name.

Psalm 100:4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
I not only thank Him for the many earthly blessings He has abundantly given me (My sweet husband and children, mother, all of our extended family & friends, home, vehicles that run, plenty of food and clothing, good health and oodles and oodles more...)
But, I also want to thank Him for NOT giving me what I deserve!
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
************************************
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Having been born a sinner (as we all are), I deserve the punishment of death, & hell. Instead, He has given me eternal life (that's the gift of God!) All I had to do--was accept the gift! Have you? Not sure? Or, maybe you think you're "good" and an exception to "all"?
Check out Way of the Master's "Are you good enough test" to know for sure!
One thing I know...for this Gift, I am the most thankful of ALL!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

A Cat's Eye View...

Our cat Muffy is disgusted with the unfair blog time that Chips is getting. So, this post is dedicated to Muffy...
Muffy says he just doesn't see the big deal--it's not like Chips is a CAT for Pete's sake!

Get real!

Shhh! Don't Tell Muffy...

Chips is just sneaking in to show you how cute the kids dressed him up. :)

Chips says he can't help it if he's gifted! I mean, he's funny, and cute! He can't help it!
What can he say? He's a natural!

Just don't tell Muffy!

Work Day...

Saturday afternoon we headed to my Mom's to bag the leaves from her yard....
It was chilly, but we got done in record time, then headed in to a delicious homecooked meal! Afterwards we had a family night with her--mixed our business with pleasure!

Weekend Dusting

Yeah! We got a dusting of snow again this weekend! My roses want to know what is UP with this after it being 74 last Sat.....and now this! :)

I've heard it said that they are predicting some cold, snowy weather this winter!

Looks like it's getting an early start!

Post-Election

I haven't posted much about the election since November 4. To say that I was bitterly disappointed would be such a gross understatement that I shan't say it.

I will say that I have had to come to grips with reality-such as it is. I have had to get on my knees, and my face before Almighty God, and pour out my fears and lack of faith to Him.

I have been discouraged and disheartened...

I truly do not think that America knows what they have unleashed...I don't think they know that this country's values will never be the same...

But, God is greater than circumstances!

I've had to bury my nose in my Bible--and ask myself hard questions...do I trust God?

Do I have real faith in Him?

Are the roots of my faith deep enough to survive what persecution is surely coming?

Psalm 18:2The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 18:31For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

Psalm 62:7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Matthew 19:26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mark 9:23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mark 10:27And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

I have to say, that the place I have come to is this....that I cling to the Rock, and ask Him to help me endure that which will come.

He never says that the Way will be easy. He never says our lives will be without persecution...But, I either trust and follow Him, or I don't.

I try to meditate on this verse:
1 Corinthians 15:58
58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

(A friend of ours has put this verse to music, and I sing it daily!)

This is where the rubber meets the road:

God is in control!

Romans 13: 1 ...For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

God has spoken, and He has allowed this...whether it be for judgement, or whether He will turn the heart of a president...

Please, please take me for a walk...or play... or something!

Ssshhhh! I'm concocting a PLAN!

I want to go out for a walk, or get someone to play with me...

This is the pits....everyone is busy...doing homeschool...cleaning...cooking... *sigh*

Maybe I'll look out the window and spot Mrs M walking by with MacGyver...nope...*sigh*

Maybe if I lay RIGHT in the MIDDLE of the floor--someone will notice me!? ...Nope...*sigh*

I know...maybe if I lay here on the couch looking dejected...Nope...*sigh*

Hey, what if I lay right in the middle of Brad's schoolwork!?...Nope :(

All of this scheming has worn me out...now I'm too TIRED to go for a walk!

Will Work For Food!

This little guy was really and truly willing to work for his food! :) (have you ever tried this when you ate? LOL)

There's something to be said about his persistence!

Pals

These two sure are good pals! Can ya tell!?

Black Forest Cake...

Our friends the Frist's invited us for dinner one day last week, (thank you Frist's) and I took a cake for dessert--chocolate, and made a cherry icing, then garnished with cherries...

My daughter took pics and wanted me to post them. (I think she liked the look of the cake w/the table coverings!)

I hope this doesn't cause anyone to crave a late-night snack! :)
