Eagle Watching

Briana and I went to Conowingo Dam this week because we heard
that you could do some "eagle watching".  It was a beautiful day, so
we took our lunch, and our cameras and set off.
We were not disappointed as you can see above!

You can see the dam over Bri's shoulder.

This particular eagle took up residence in a tree right near where
we were sitting. Such a beautiful member of God's creation!
Above is an immature eagle catching a fish.

They say the best time to go is Oct., but I'm glad we went this week!
We saw many heron too.

It was lovely to be outside just enjoying God's creation-and spending
 time with Bri.

A Stroll in the Park...

A stroll in the park yielded these pics for me today on my
way home from physical therapy...
Didn't want to miss the photo-op that the snowstorm provided!

Birdseed Bandit

Remember this little feeder Bri and I made?
Well...a little bandit came shortly after we hung it and
helped his greedy little self to it!

He finds it and starts to eat...

Then, if you look, you can see his little "hands" on it--he bit the string
and took off with it!

He got it on the ground and the rest is history!

Sorry the quality of these isn't good--I was taking it through the kitchen window,
and the sun was bright and there was a
reflection off the plants on the window.
It was the only vantage point I had though :)

For the Birds...

It has been many years since we made pinecone feeders for the birds, and
Bri and I decided it was high time to do it again! :)

We got some yarn, gathered some pinecones, bought some peanut butter,
dug into our bag of seed in the garage, and we were ready!
It was a little messy, but alot of fun!
Bri shows her technique
We hung them all around the yard, this one is being hung in our pinetree in
the front yard.
We tried to position them so that we can see them from the window

This one is outside our kitchen window

This one in the butterfly bush is visible from the kitchen as well
We didn't have to wait too long until we had some "customers"

This morning we woke up to a "surprise snow"
and the birds were already at the new feeders

The blackbirds swept into the other feeders in droves!
It was lots of fun--we love feeding and watching the birds!

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

This Was a Test

My wonderful kids (w/help from their wonderful Dad) bought me a camera for
Christmas! It's a Nikon Coolpix P510
I saw this lovely male cardinal in our butterfly bush, and
decided to try out my zoom....
what do you think!?
pretty cool huh?

I thought they came out great considering I was just standing inside my kitchen window-
and was just fooling around. :)

Wonderful, Glorious Family Day at the Beach

Friday my husband took off of work so that we could go to the beach
both to enjoy some family time together--and let the crab go :)
It was an overcast morning, so the beach was nearly deserted!
Yeah for us!

There was evidence of some damage from the hurricane, but not too bad.

You can see we were pretty much to ourselves, when
we got there, there were only 3 cars in the parking lot.

It was a really nice time together

These seagulls didn't have many targets--so, they hung around us alot!

Just waiting for their chance--which they got! While 3 of us took a walk,
and one of us slept on the blanket (notice no names here!?) the seagulls
ATE our potato chips--the whole bag! lol

Phil and Brad have a catch--by now the sun has come out and it was like a lovely summer day.

This very brave little sandpiper would come right on our blanket and look for crumbs!

The waves were a little rough due to Katia.

It really was a lovely day--and boy did it fly by!
We ended it by going to Grotto's for pizza :)
Yum!
