Finishing Out April...part 2...

Our Cherry tree has dropped all it's petals...making it look like pink snow on the ground!
Bri took these shots of it.

Our Lily of the Valley is blooming
So are our blueberry bushes
Shadow is outside wanting Muffy to come out
Muffy is inside wanting to go out

Finishing out April....what's happening...part 1

Well, things have been picking up speed around here...lots of stuff happening!
Big news for me personally--I got my hair cut off! :)   (About 6")  This was taken the day I got it cut.
(it's still pretty long)
My hubby and I took a quick trip to Lancaster on Sat. and it was such a lovely day!
These are all snapshots from the day.
Such a peaceful day...so much beauty in this area
this little guy below was my fav sighting of the day!
I took lots of pics of him! :)

So cute!
Below is some scenery from the car ride
Some flowers I picked up at the nursery and planted to put on my porch...
Can you spot the little squirrel on top of the clothesline pole?
(I think Brad took that one)
Our poor neighbor has been sick, so Bri and I made her a meal...here are the rolls I made...
And the chocolate cake Bri made... (YUM!)
I'll post some more tomorrow on stuff around here!
Hope you're enjoying the same glorious weather we are!

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Raspberry Scones

Raspberry Scones
Enjoy this recipe from Recipes for Comfort (M772).

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. plus 1 T. sugar, divided
2-1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. nutmeg
1/2 c. chilled butter, sliced
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
1 t. lemon zest
3/4 c. raspberries
1 T. butter, melted

Sift together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Cut in chilled butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside. In a separate bowl, combine milk, egg and lemon zest; stir into dry ingredients. When mixture forms a soft dough, fold in raspberries. Shape dough into a ball and knead on a lightly floured surface 8 to 10 times. Lightly coat a baking sheet with non-stick vegetable spray; place dough in the center. Pat into a 9-inch circle about 1/2-inch thick. With a sharp knife, score dough into 8 wedges; do not separate. Brush top of dough with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake scones at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack. Makes 8 servings.

This is from Gooseberry Patch---enjoy!

April has Wings!

How is your April going so far?
Are you as shocked as I am to look at the calendar today and see #19?
Where did this month go!?
At our house we've been studying character traits...
we've covered Compassion, Contentment, and Courage
I just realized through some trials I'm going through how much I am lacking in these traits!
We're also learning through biblical character study, that you can't have these character
traits unless you are submissive and obedient to God and His Word.
It's been a big eye opener for me!

One of the quotes from our book by Gary Maldaner says
"Your character will determine your usefulness to the Lord now, and later in life."
Something to ponder!

I'll leave you with this verse:
"Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be etablished. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil."
Provers 4:25-27

Another DC trip...

We had the opportunity to go to Washington DC again this Spring...
Thought I'd post some pics from our trip
Phil and Bri on the train....
I don't know how she does it...but Bri can take great pics from the moving train!
Brad smiles from in front of her...

The train station is gorgeous!

Lots of stuff going on outside the station...

To Daddy's delight...we left the station :) and moved on...

There are cherry blossoms everywhere--so gorgeous!

Lotsa people too...

There were lovely spring flowers in bloom everywhere too!

This little fella was singing for us...
Here's Bri and I on the Metro
We rode the metro from the Tidal Basin to the US Botanic Garden
(I'll save those pics for another post)

Random shots...
(Brad taking a photo for a couple--we did lots of that)
(Don't these things look like fun!?)
I'll continue in another post so I don't overwhelm you with pictures! :)
