Happy Mother's Day

I just wanted to do a post about my
amazing Mom on Mother's Day.
(btw, isn't she beautiful!?)

She has sacrificed so much for me and my
family that there aren't enough words
to express my thankfulness.

She has been through my cancer journey and
my back surgery and recovery with such
faithfulness!

She has been a real blessing not only to me, but
also to my children!

We have many happy memories with her and look forward
to making many more!

I love my Mom!

Her children arise up, and call her blessed;

Mother's Day Surprise!

More on May before it flits away!

So blessed and happy to have my Mom here for dinner on Mother's Day!

After a delicious dinner prepared by my husband and kids,
we did my mom's fav thing...played SkipBo!
Notice the lovely flowers on the table?
A gift from Brad! :)
Phil gave me a beautiful hydrangea that blooms all summer!

Took a few pics before my Mom left...

My mom always look so small between my kids! :)

After my Mom left, I thought all was over...but it wasn't!

My kids went together and got me a suprise gift...
a Hot Air Balloon Ride!

It's on my bucket list...I can't wait to go!
Thanks so much you two!
It was a lovely day, and I look forward to my ride!

Hope your Mother's Day was a blessing to you too!

Mind if I Backtrack?

I do need to backtrack just a bit...I did post about my Mother's birthday...and Brad's graduation...but, I missed Mother's Day somewhere in there! :)
My Mom has been wanting a new cell phone, and we found her one on ebay--she was happy!

We enjoyed a lovely dinner together, then spent the afternoon in the gazebo
(which my kids got out of the attic and put up for me for Mother's Day--great present!)
We played games and enjoyed the lovely spring weather.

My kids also got me the dahlia above--it's the prettiest color!
My church gave me this lovely hanging basket--it is huge!

My hubby spoiled me up too! This is the Bonfire Patio Peach tree he gave me. :)
My Mom and I both had a lovely Mother's Day...hope you did too!

A Wonderful Mother's Day for me!

My Mother's Day was a lovely one! Above is the potting bench that Brad built for me a couple of years ago. This year he repainted it, and adjusted the lower shelf so that it could fit more items on it!

As you can see on top of the potting bench, my sweet husband got me an adorable gardening bag! Complete with a pink trowel (that I hope no one will swipe because it's a "girl color"! ) and a pink kneeling pad to match!

And, Briana got me a lovely new galvanized watering can. (I love galvanized stuff!)

My mom got me a lovely apple pillow (I love all things apple)...but why did my MOM get me a gift on Mother's Day!? I'm still puzzled over that one! :)

The kids played the piano for me, helped get the house ready for dinner, and then helped their dad prepare the dinner for my mom and I! YUM!
Chippy just loved having everyone here! He thought it was a real success--and I agree with him!

JOY!

"I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life."
-- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

" Who is it that loves me and will love me forever with an affection which no chance, no misery, no crime of mine can do away? — It is you, my mother."-- Thomas Carlyle

Sunday was a day set aside for Mothers. This special day set me to thinking about motherhood. Here are some of my thoughts...first, I want to say how blessed I am to have my Mom! She's such a wonderful mother to me! She encourages me, prays for me, and helps me in a million ways! And we have a lot of fun together! We like to cook, shop, play games, laugh, and just chat together. I enjoy her company. I love her deeply. She's my mother.

Secondly, I want to thank these two below...if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have earned the blessed title of Mother.

The years have gone so swiftly by! And as I've passed my midlife point already, I can say that being a mother is the highest calling in my life after being a Christian. (I wish I had a big family with 12 children!) But God didn't have that for me.

Mothers have a special way of filling homes with love, and when the home is filled with love -you'll always find God spoken of there.

- Helen Steiner Rice -

Being a mother is an awesome responsibility. It's a job that never ends. It's rewards cannot be measured by monetary standards.

But, I don't just want a mother. A praying mother. I want to be a godly mother.

Attributes of a Godly Mother ...

She has accepted Christ as Savior
And Lord of her whole life;
She has peace with God,
That calms her inner strife;
She knows how to trust
The Father for all things;
She is right and just,
In the guidance she gives.

She knows how to pray
For her family's daily needs;
She can point the way,
Which God wants all to go;
And always seeks to guide
Her family towards God;
For she abides in the Lord,
Walking the way He leads.

She knows how to share
the importance of the Holy Word;
And seeks to reach her child
From the depth of her heart;
She always tries to be
Loving, gentle, and kind;
She helps her child grow
In divine wisdom, insight, and grace.

She takes a house and makes it
A pleasant home for her family;
And if her children stray
A forgiving love they will find.

One who aspires to be all of this,
A Godly Mother she is indeed;
For she has not been remiss,
In reflecting the Almighty God
In whom she believes,
For all her children to see.

I still fall very short, but I'm still trying. And, I love my job!
