Psalm 91:4

After I had my cancer recurrence, I had a wonderful dream about

Jesus spreading a blanket over me made of feathers.  When it drifted
down around me, it brought with it an amazing peace.

I hang on to this verse! Hope it brings you peace and comfort
as well.

Psalm 91:4. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. (NIV)

Delicious Kale Chips Recipe (Gluten free and gaps legal)

Homemade Kale Chips

credit photo
I haven't tried these--but plan to this week. My mom made them over the weekend and really liked them. I want to do these, and the Zucchini chips too! Let me know if you try them! (or, if you've already tried them!)

How to Make Awesome Kale Chips

  1. Turn oven on to 350 degrees**.  When the oven has been preheated, turn it off.  Seriously, this is the trick!
  2. Get a bunch of kale – you’ll need more than you think.  They shrivel up quite a bit once cooked.
  3. Break it up into pieces about the size of your palm.  Use only the leaves.
  4. Put into a bowl, sprinkle with olive oil and shake. (I will probably use coconut oil)  You don’t need a lot of oil.  I read somewhere that it’s best if you massage the oil into the leaves.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil.
  6. Spread kale evenly.
  7. Put into warm oven.
  8. Bake for about 20 minutes.  You can just check in on them.  If they’re crispy, they’re done.  They should be a bright green with little to no brown.  Brown = burnt.
  9. Sprinkle with salt.
*You can also sprinkle w/parmesan cheese after they come out of the oven

**Here’s the trick: turn the oven on to 350, let it heat up, turn it off, and then put the kale chips in.  The oven stays hot and the kale chips cook slowly, without being scorched.

Thankful for the Change in my Health

So thankful today that I have improved health!
(Back in 2011 I was diagnosed with lymphoma-you can read about that here)
My doctors are astounded at what God did during my illness--all
unexplained and mysterious to them.
But, I know that God did it, and told them all so! :)

To date I haven't had a recurrence, and I am very thankful for that!

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing:
 thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee,
and not be silent. O Lord my God,
I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Psalm 30:11, 12

Health Update

Hi all,
I just wanted to update you prayer warriors on my appointment at the Gastro specialist today.

He was impressed with my recovery so far from the surgery--and my blood counts too.
He said I don't have the classic symptoms for either colitis or crohn's and he will need to do more testing to figure out what's going on.
So, I go next Thurs. the 8th for an MRI (please pray for me! I'm claustrophobic!). Then, I have to go on
the 27th and get ANOTHER colonoscopy and the scope down my throat to check my stomach and intestines...
he said that those tests should tell us everything we need to know to figure out what's going on...
I sure hope so!  so....here I go again!

I'll keep you posted, and I thank you so much for your prayers!

Update

photo credit: my lovely daughter Briana

I have to admit it...I've got spring fever! :)
We had a few sunny, springlike days here, and I'm hooked!
I'm not the only one either, my sister in law said she "just wanted to get outside and plant something"
My feelings exactly!

Well, I thought I'd give you a little update on my health progress for those of
you who are kind enough to pray for me!

I went to my surgeon yesterday, and he said the biopsy from my colonoscopy was inconclusive.
(why am I suprised!?)
He said that I could have colitis, or crohn's disease and recommended I see a gastro guy--
he had a big smile when I told him I have an appt for Wed.  - one step ahead of him! lol
I'll let you know what happens after I see the specialist.
I imagine he will send me for some type of scope...
I really want to thank you so much for your prayers, what a blessing they are!
Thank you also for your endurance-it seems like I've been asking you to
pray for a looong time!
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 28:7

Almost Time...

My times are in thy hand: Psalm 31:15a
Well, I have spent the last couple of weeks busily preparing for my upcoming surgery on Wednesday.
I had about 2 weeks to get my Christmas shopping done and wrapped, cards out, and decorations up.
It was just enough time!
(Plus, I had excellent help!)
And, it kept me busy, and my mind off of things...
It also made me think about TIME.
We think we're in control of it, when actually, all of it is in God's hands.
It is a lesson I have learned these last few weeks....that all is in God's control
And, that's a good thing!

When you face something like cancer, it puts so many things in perspective.
Like...what's really important.
Like... am I spending enough time in the Word, and in prayer?
Is my focus on the Lord-and His timing---or, is it on mine?

I'm learning, and growing through this whole situation, and I covet your prayers.

Specifically: That they can remove the spleen and no further treatment is required.
And, that I will have a speedy recovery from the surgery.

May God get all the glory!

More on Juicing...

I'm still doing the juicing in my Vitamix!
Above is my lunch from the other day before blending it...here it is after...
It had fresh asparagus from the garden in it!
I started out sticking to the recipes from my Vitamix cookbook, but now that I have the hang of how much liquid etc...to put in, I just make up my own. :)
Isn't this one colorful!? I made it with red cabbage. :)
