Spring

Last week my daughter & I took our little buddies and went
to a local park for the day.

I am so happy and blessed that after last year's major
back injury, I can now walk w/o pain and
enjoy both my daughter's company
and God's creation as we toured the park!

This Spring has been just beautiful and glorious-
very lovely weather.

I hope that you are enjoying your Spring season
too.

The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come,
 and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

I'm Still At It!

Yep, I'm still cleaning up a storm in my home these days!
I am sort of Spring Cleaning...yet not. Click here to read the

So far I have decluttered and cleaned our:
  • Foyer
  • Dining Room
  • Kitchen
  • Office
  • Downstairs Bath
And I'm about 2/3 done the Master Bedroom.

I am doing all the drawer, cabinets, etc...
Plus, washing throw rugs, curtains, dust ruffles, and windows...
I also touched up the paint.
It's a lot of work, but I am so happy with what I've gotten done so far!
Lord willing, I will be finishing the Bedroom on Monday.
(this will including "switching the summer/winter clothes as we do not have big enough
closets to keep both seasons in them at the same time-thus they are stored in the attic)
Then I will do the Upstairs Bath, the Living Room, Family Room, and Play Room.
After that, I will have to do the dreaded workshop and garage...I am hoping for help
with those! :)
Once I am finished, I will continue doing my Zones monthly, and
only have to spend 15 min/daily to do that.
Much easier than letting it all go and having to "play catch up"!

Hope you are enjoying this lovely Spring weather
-I have gotten out some during my breaks and really love this time of year!
Blessings!

Right Out of the Garden!

This is my favorite veggie that we grow!
Asparagus!

We've had several meals off of them already...YUM!

Another fav of mine--this neat, splotchy lettuce!

Not only is it beautiful, it's very tasty!
And, it doesn't bolt, and winters over! :)
We get the seeds at Baker's Creek

The Time of the Lilacs Has Come!

Anyone who knows me well...knows that Lilacs are my very favorite flower!

Their smell is so fragrant--divine!

I also love their color--purple is my fav!

They are so delicate and lovely...

My husband picked the bouquet below and brought them in--
you could smell them all through the kitchen!

Their season is almost over already, but fortunatley
my family bought me a lilac bush that blooms all summer!
It's tiny, but still smells fragrant and the the blooms are small, but just as lovely!

New Plantings.....

I am so pleased with our new plantings!
We had some dwarf azaleas along our front walk--and they just never did well there.
They never looked healthy (I think snow would get piled on them in the winter when we shoveled...)

Anyway, Phil, Briana and I went and chose some perenniels to take their place, and I
really like them!

I had never seen anything like these before, and think they're all so cute!

The one above had little bell shaped flowers on it when we got it
(kind of like lily of the valley) The red is where the new growth is now.

This blue is so striking--kind of hard to see in the photo though.

These remind me of little faces :)
Aren't they cute?

Daddy's Day Off

My dear husband had off on Friday, and he chose to take us all to Lancaster for the day.
(It's one of his favorite places to go)
We did some different things this time than we usually do...we spent the day at Kitchen Kettle Village.
We really enjoyed the Christmas shoppe, it had a "Nativity Room"

The kids enjoyed the advent calendars

Lovely Christmas trees...

Lots of beautiful Nativity scenes
(i really like the one above!)

This gorgeous old Swiss clock works! It is from the 1800's

Saw this old Ford while we were walking to a shop

This looks like our Chippy :)

It was a rainy day, but we managed a few snapshots

Loved this set up with the herbs inside!

How about this little Chihuahua with her tutu? lol

This was on one of the shops--I couldn't resist snapping it since it's our initial :0)

they had a Polish band playing Eidelweiss and other tunes...

It was raining or threatening rain off and on, but it didn't stop us from having
a lovely day!

Strawberry season commences!

Bri and I did our annual Strawberry picking day this week...

It took us less than an hour to fill our flats...they were plentiful!

We froze some by putting them on a cookie sheet and freezing initially, then placing them in freezer bags

I made this strawberry cake w/strawberry icing...but, the icing was too thin and ran
-I ran out of powdered sugar and couldn't thicken it!
AND, the picture is blurry--sorry!

We cut some up and ate them--they were delicious!
And we made some into homemade ice cream too!

I hope you're enjoying this season too!
