........Once said.....Twice told............ by Brad Borowski

51 year old Bob Schultz of Oregon, beloved friend and mentor went home to be with our Lord June 13, 2008.
He was a man of great wisdom and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He wrote spiritual young mens books.
Boyhood and Beyond, Created for Work, and Practical Happiness are Bob Schultz’s books filled with his great wisdom; which in corespondence with myself, he wrote of his life lessons, applied them to my life, and answered my questions.
Bob Schultz greatly invested in me in another way by giving me the money for my Ford f-150. He gave me the funds from proceeds of his books that I may learn new skills in automotive. I am greatly indebted to the entire Schultz family; Janet, Molly, Emily, and Betsy.
His words were not just said, but applied and seen in his wonderful family.
I thank God for Bob Schultz and his love and generosity to me and my family, and to many across the world. Thank you Mr. Schultz. :)

There's more than "frost" on these pumpkins!

When we went to the "Celebrate the Glory" conference a few weeks ago, they had some delightful pumpkins carved, and otherwise decorated in honor to the Lord, and His Word--and we thought it was a great idea!
And so, Briana and Brad did some of their own!
You could use dried flowers, or stuff right from your yard! Acorns, mums etc...

"When the Frost is on the Punkin"

WHEN the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock,
And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin' turkey-cock,
And the clackin' of the guineys, and the cluckin' of the hens,
And the rooster's hallylooyer as he tiptoes on the fence;
O, it's then the time a feller is a-feelin' at his best,
With the risin' sun to greet him from a night of peaceful rest,
As he leaves the house, bareheaded, and goes out to feed the stock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock.

They's something kindo' harty-like about the atmusfere
When the heat of summer's over and the coolin' fall is here—
Of course we miss the flowers, and the blossoms on the trees,
And the mumble of the hummin'-birds and buzzin' of the bees;
But the air's so appetizin'; and the landscape through the haze
Of a crisp and sunny morning of the airly autumn days
Is a pictur' that no painter has the colorin' to mock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock.

The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,
And the raspin' of the tangled leaves as golden as the morn;
The stubble in the furries—kindo' lonesome-like, but still
A-preachin' sermuns to us of the barns they growed to fill;
The strawstack in the medder, and the reaper in the shed;
The hosses in theyr stalls below—the clover overhead!—
O, it sets my hart a-clickin' like the tickin' of a clock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock.

Then your apples all is gethered, and the ones a feller keeps
Is poured around the cellar-floor in red and yaller heaps;
And your cider-makin's over, and your wimmern-folks is through
With theyr mince and apple-butter, and theyr souse and sausage too!...
I don't know how to tell it—but ef such a thing could be
As the angels wantin' boardin', and they'd call around on me—
I'd want to 'commodate 'em—all the whole-indurin' flock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock.

Flying Through the Air with the Greatest of Ease....

Our Chippy has been happily playing with the new ball that "Auntie Lisa" gave him! :)
He is learning to "catch it" in the air.
Being an adolescent is tough...his coordination just won't cooperate! LOL
However, as you can see above HE FINALLY DID IT!

And, he was pretty proud of himself too!

All this celebrity stuff can wear a guy out!

Upcoming Election...

Well, I have to say that I have heard many people who are very concerned, and even afraid about Tuesday's results. I too have been flustered hearing that this evil man is in the lead and projected to win... and, I know that if he gets it--it is judgement on our country (which we deserve).

The only thing I can cling to is that God is in control. And, I must rest in Him.

In the Old Testament, God turns the heart of the king to do His will....

8And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. Exodus 14:8

30But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day. Deut. 2:30

1The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Prov. 21:1

You know, God has given our country instructions on how to get Him to help our country...

2 Chronicles 7:14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

But, we haven't done this, and cannot expect Him to help us. If He does deliver us, it is just His mercy and grace !
My words of wisdom concerning this? PRAY!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I'm doing. And, VOTE!

My son made this sign to put in our front yard...good advice!

Sunday Stroll

Our family loves to be outdoors...especially in the Fall. So, we took advantage of the lovely day on Sunday, and went for a hike in the woods. It was so refreshing to be outdoors and seeing the changing leaves. Don't ask me why, but the site of these leaves floating on the water looked so interesting to me. :) My son enjoyed being a dare-devil today! In one of the top pics above w/the trees--it was all up-hill, and he ran straight up to the top! Above, he is literally hanging out over the water... Below he is hanging out over the edge of the path and dangling above a steep drop. (Don't ask me why!?)I thought these berries were so pretty

Of course Chips came along and enjoyed romping through the woods...(except for the several ticks we pulled off of him--ew yuck!)

I couldn't resist having them pose for this picture...I took the photo below in the same park, same spot several years ago!(although the bridge looks different-it's been redone)

My, how time flies!!!!!!!

I love my family! I thank God for blessing me with them!

Milk Run

Any of you who knows our family very well...knows that we love to drink raw milk...but we have to travel almost 1 hr each way to get it!
Well, my daughter and I took the trip yesterday, but it was so lovely out, it was a pleasure!
The area that we drive to is beautiful! It is in Pennsylvania, and with the fall foilage, and unseasonably warm temperatures, it made for a lovely ride!
We have to drive down some very rural windy roads, while we were on one, we heard this young man crowing to a nearby competing male...they sure were loud!

Cookin' up a storm!

Last week I had one of those days where I was cooking up a storm! I thought I would post about it.

For my main course I made Pasta Fagioli (one of my husband's favorites--pictured above). Below is a copy of the recipe I sorta use...

2 tablespoons olive oil
3 strips bacon,coarsely chopped
1 rib celery,chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic,finely chopped
3 cans chicken broth
1 can 15-19 oz cannellini beans,undrained,mashed with -- fork
1 can 15-19 oz red kidney beans, drained
1 cup very small past shells or ditalini
salt and black pepper to taste
In large saucepan or Dutch oven,heat oil over medium heat. Add
bacon, carrot, celery, onion, and garlic, Cook 7 to 10 minutes, or
until bacon is cooked and vegetables are softened, stirring
occasionally.
Add chicken broth and white and red kidney beans, bring to a
boli over high heat. Add pasta and reduced heat to medium and
cook, uncovered 8 to 10 minutes or until pasta is cooked but not
mushy,stirring frequently. Taste to test tenderness. Season with
salt and pepper. Serves 6.

I say sorta because I loosely follow most recipes... for instance, the day I made this, I used ham in it. (I sometimes start out w/just a hambone--or I use the bacon) I also pretty much doubled this.

I made this nice, soft bread to go with the soup.

And for dessert:
