Happy New Year

2010 New Year Thoughts...

Last night, on New Year's Eve, our family sat down as we do every year and read the sheets we filled out, which contained questions like these:

  Name something special that happened this year
  
  
  
• 
  
  How have you grown closer to the Lord this year?
  
  
  
• 
  
  Name something that Daddy did that blessed you this year
  
  
  
• 
  
  List at least 3 goals for 2010
  
  
  

We reflected on the year just past...the victories, the losses...what Scriptures did we memorize?...milestones and blessings...places we were blessed to travel during the year...significant household projects we accomplished...special friendships made during the year...

And then, we set family goals for the New Year:

We want to be faithful to God

We want to minister to others, memorize more Scripture, be good stewards of our time

And so, You will probably see me on here alot less.

I may do fewer posts, or shorter ones

I hope that this New Year is a blessing to you and your family as you serve Him!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

The Good News for 2009 is:

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.

2. Prayer will still work.

3. The Holy Spirit will still move.

4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.

5. There will still be God-anointed teaching and preaching.

6. There will still be singing of praise to God.

7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.

8. There will still be room at the Cross.

9. Jesus will still love you.

10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him..

God has approved this message!

Fun Fellowship!

Yesterday we were graciously invited to the home of our dear friends for a Valentine get-together. My daughter (in red) and her friends had a glorious sunny day to hike the 45 acre property...they played games...chatted...and laughed, oh, and of course-ATE!
We really enjoyed the time of fellowship--mom's and girls alike!

Our Maddie

Well, for those of you who had read my earlier post sharing that our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Maddie has Mitral Valve issues with her heart...I just wanted to post an update letting you know that she is doing well on the meds.

Sadly, we lost Our Maddie a few weeks after this post. :( We still miss her!

A Blessed Event! Part 1

Our family had the blessing of attending a wedding in Florida last week. The groom is the son of our dear friends Mike & Marci in OH. And we are thrilled that we went!

After the wonderful ceremony, there was a great time of fellowship and celebrating this happy occasion!

Here are Mike and Marci (groom's parents-& this blogger's buddies) being announced and coming into the reception tent. You can tell by their expressions that this is a joyous occasion!

The Old, and the New

At our house, we don't really make New Year's Resolutions...

So, I thought I'd fill you in on what we do on New Year's Day.

First we have a nice dinner-my mom usually comes over for this. She usually leaves after dinner as she doesn't like to drive in the dark anymore,.

Then, we gather around with the sheets I have given everyone to fill out and put their own answers on.

I first read a list of Highlights that our family experienced in the previous (old) year. (I compile this on my computer as things happen)

Here's a few from this year's list: Brad (my son) bought a truck, Briana (my daughter) got her braces off, we started attending a new church, we went to New York City, we had a Backyard Bible Club to evangelize our neighborhood....

This is always fun because there are always some things that we've forgotten that happened during the year, and it's fun to be reminded!

Then, we go around the room-from youngest to oldest, and we read the answers to the questions on our sheets.

Some of the questions are:

Name something special that happened this year.

How have you grown closer to the Lord this year? (Or in what way?)

Name something that Daddy did that blessed you, or that you admire:

And then towards the bottom of the sheet, there is an opportunity to set goals:

List at least 3 goals for 2008, either family, or individual goals. Make at least one spiritual.

There are more things on the list--but you get the idea!

We save these sheets, and always review last years, and then go over this years.

We actually enjoy this, and it's a neat way to preserve some of our family accomplishments and history! (I save all the sheets in a notebook.)

So, instead of making resolutions, we make goals!

Here's one of mine for this year: To serve my family wholeheartedly.

I hope that I accomplish this goal! It is a Bible-requirement for my position of wife and mother!

I want to serve them w/o distraction!

And so, you have a peek into our New Year's traditions....

like a clean white sheet
without blemish
no mistakes to repeat

What new ventures

And the One who made us
